Olney is a market town in North Buckinghamshire.

  • It's famous for the 2 hymn writers -- John Newton and William Cowper

  • and for the annual pancake race every Shrove Tuesday -- The way the English delbrate Mardi Gras !?

The pancake race is run from the market square to this sign in the churchyard wall......after which pancakes are served to spectators in the church hall

The home of William Cowper is now a museum about his life and times and that of Newton. The gardens are open including his summerhouse
