January 16 to 24.

Visit of Charlie & Katie

The year began with a visit by Charlie and his girl-friend Katie. We had a couple of days in London (including John's "Da Vinci Code Trail" )and others in Cambridge and Essex. The highlight was a tour of the Greene King brewery in Bury St Edmunds.

Holiday In Sarasota

We visited Abby in Florida. we had a great day out touring round Anna Maria Island. On return to Detroit John was a Presentation judge at Formula SAE at Pontiac

To celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary, john had arranged a surprise trip to see a house designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in Northampton.....but with an LL Hunt day en route.

We had tickets to see an England XV take on the Barbarians (Rest of World) at Rugby Union at Twickenham but visited Syon Park before.

We stayed overnight with John's Mum and  took her out for lunch and the day at St Katherine's dock

On Judy's birthday, we had another trip out across Suffolk. The focus was lunch at the excellent St Peter's Brewery in South Elmham, but we took the opportunity to find some LL places en route.

May 4th

We had tickets to see Neil Diamond in concert at Woburn Abbey. This time we took the opportunity to hunt down some LL buildings in Beds and Bucks and included a nostalgic trip back to Newport Pagnell and Milton Keynes.

June 22nd/23rd

Mum and Shirley visited us. On 23rd we went to Peter Beales roses at Attleburgh and Wymondham.

On 24th we watched horses on the gallops and walked around Newmarket

Between June 9th and July 22nd major work was carried out to clear ivy off the shed, and re-roof it.

 

Martyn put down the plinth for the phone box, built a planter and water feature and a new patio. Then the fun of installing the phone box which took 2 attempts.

Holiday In Ireland

Our pictures of Ireland were taken on our vacation in 2005 from June 27 to July 2.

It coincided with a trip of the choirs of St Mary, Wayne and Sacred Heart, Dearborn -- Judy's sister Joanne and bother-in-law, Chuck, being members of the latter. Her brother, John, and his wife , Kathy, were also on the trip.

We arranged our itinerary to stay and visit many of the places on the choir trip.

On July 17 and 24 we went to concerts at Blickling Hall, Norfolk with Will Young and Ronan Keating respectively. On the 24th we did some LL hunting en route

We took Mum to see her friends, Doug & Ruby Gowing, in Bexhill and on teh way back we stopped at Scotney Castle

We went to Gatwick to get a flight to the US but our standby tickets didn't get us on the full flight. We did some sightseeing around Kent and tried again on Aug 2nd to no avail.

Having booked a flight for Aug 5th we made the most of the extra time in the UK and took a trip to Sandringham in Norfolk but did some sightseeing and LL hunting on the way. We were particularly taken with Kings Lynn. We also visited Nelson's birthplace at Burnham Thorpe which was interesting later in October for the 200th Anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar.

August and September

Spent in the US.

We visited Judy's sister's cottage in Port Sanilac twice, the Renaissance Festival, had a boat trip across to Canada with John's former secretary, Marge Coogan and her husband Mike, and attended the wedding of Judy's niece, Janeen.

 Went to the National Ploughing Championships at Soham followed by a visit to the town

Mum and Shirley came up for the day and we went to Bury St Edmunds to see the new tower which had recently been "opened". We also enjoyed the Abbey Gardens

We had tickets for a recording of a Celebrity version of "The Weakest link" at Pinewood. We took the opportunity to visit the Chiltern Open Air Museum in the morning at Chalfont St Peter.

. As we waited to go in to Pinewood we had a good view of the "007" sound stage.

On Oct 23 we saw West Ham beat Middlesborough at Upton Park with Martyn & Fiona

We took a trip to London, primarily to see John Wesley's conversion site at Aldersgate. We started at his church and had a personal tour of his house. We also had an excellent tour round St Paul's and tracked some LL originals.

We took Mum to Bexhilll and took the opportunity to see the re-furbished De La Warr Pavillion which had been re-opened that week.

We took a tour of the National Stud followed by racing at Newmarket's Rowley mile course for the last meeting of the year.

We went to London for the Lord Mayor's Show -- parade in the morning and fireworks in the evening. During the afternoon we tracked down some more LL buildings.

We had tickets for a recording of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" at Elstree. We did some LL hunting in Essex en route and had lunch at the Spaniard's Inn in Hampstead, and  popped in to Kenwood House.

A shopping day in Cambridge but we visited Lode on the way back to see the original building of a LL model we had just bought.
