| It is a (Polish?)
tradition in Judy's family that when a girl child is born the
Grandmother takes a handkerchief and with a few careful stitches she
makes a bonnet which is worn at the Christening.
Then when the child grows and is about to marry, the
bonnet is taken and the stitches removed to reform as a handkerchief
which is used by the bride on her wedding day.
These pictures taken in South Lyon on August 5th,
2006 -- the day of her wedding shower -- show Abby's bonnet (left)
being prepared for her wedding in October.
